Are you aged 14 – 25 and interested in volunteering? We love to have young people volunteer here so we have tried to make it as easy as possible! We even award certificates to recognise the time you give. If you need to do volunteering hours for Duke of Edinburgh or National Citizenship Service there is a place at St Mary’s for you.
You can volunteer from the age of 14 in one of our shops or the café, or from 16 in many other roles. We have 44 young people under the age of 25 helping us already doing all sorts of things, gaining work experience, learning new skills, customer service, improving social skills; all volunteering experience helps when it comes to applying for jobs, apprenticeships or higher education.
Whatever your reasons, it can add to your CV and we will write a reference for you when you have attained at least a Bronze Award by volunteering 25 hours. The more you volunteer the higher the award: – 50 = Silver, 75 = Gold
Some of our young volunteers have even joined together and had fun fundraising for us. It’s all about meeting people, joining in and having a laugh.
And don’t worry if you’re not sure at first full training and support is given to all our volunteers.
