St Mary’s Hospice marks Volunteers’ Week 2023.
2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when St Mary’s Hospice will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.
This Volunteers’ Week we will celebrate our wonderful volunteers in a number of ways as well as throughout the year. Here at St Mary’s Hospice, we have around 250 volunteers. All of which do a variety of roles, ranging from helping out in one of our retail shops around the south lakes areas, managing our main reception in the main building in Ulverston or helping with our fundraising events. All of which are vital to the daily running of St Mary’s hospice.
Volunteer engagement officer Hannah said: “I just want to personally thank you to every volunteer that has ever helped out in any way at St Mary’s hospice. Your time is invaluable, and volunteer’s week is a time to celebrate this and all of you”.
Keep a look out this week on our social media platforms for more volunteering week content.
