We would like to take a moment to shine a spotlight on one of the schools taking part in this year’s Battle To Succeed programme.
Six groups at Furness Academy are working hard on devising and implementing various fundraising initiatives, using the £30 seed funding from their corporate partner Ørsted. These ideas include selling Lego figures, cakes and sweets and running tombolas and raffles at the local primary school and one group are also asking The Forum if they can set up a stall in there.
Annabelle Holloway Area Fundraising Manager for St Mary’s Hospice said: “It is fantastic to see the students working together, utilising their creativity and building key skills in teamwork, communication, organisation and budgeting.
Our Battle To Succeed programme is an enterprise programme where we match a local school with a local business to raise vital funds for St Mary’s. The corporate partner provides each group of students with £30 and the students are tasked with producing a profit that will come as a donation back to St Mary’s. If you know of a school which would be interested in participating in 2024’s programme then please email fundraising@stmaryshospice.org.uk.”
