The Volunteer Department were truly moved when 3 Student Council members from Low Furness called into the hospice with 2 beautiful baskets of treats. Heather, Daisy and Mia have been organising and motivating the pupils at the school to raise money over the last few months. They have done various things and chose to donate some of it to St Mary’s. They had stalls at the Christmas Fair, apparently the sweet stall was most popular! They have run a healthy tuck shop every day, which needed a lot of commitment and coordination.
The three girls who represent the school council said they wanted to raise money for our volunteers, to give something back to them as they give their time for the hospice. They wanted to give the volunteers a treat so they have put together over a 100 beautiful small gift bags containing tea/coffee, milk and a biscuit – just enough for a treat at brew time.
Mrs Stubbs from the school said “the girls and the pupils have worked really hard on this project and should be proud of themselves”
And what a treat some of our lucky volunteers will get, each gift coming with a personal message from a pupil at the School.
Anne Atkinson, Head of Volunteering, received the wonderful gift saying: “I am touched by the children thinking of our volunteers and doing all this work to give them a treat.”
