The entire school of UVHS participated in their annual ‘Charity Walk’ On Tuesday 16th July over 900 students from the school set out to complete a 10 mile sponsored walk. Many of the students have connections with St Mary’s hospice and they were delighted to help in some way this year doing the walk whilst supporting St Mary’s. They raised a huge £5000 for the hospice which will pay for 10 nights of care on the In Patient Unit.
Mel Dixon Community Development Manager was delighted to be invited to the presentation at the finish of the walk accepting a phenomenal £5000. Mel said: “It was a pleasure to be invited and talk to the pupils about our local hospice, giving them in insight into not only the work that we do, but also I felt it was very important to give the pupils an idea of hospice running costs, so they tangibly have an understanding of just how important donations such as theirs’s are to our patients and their families.”
