Barrow based fitness instructor Sinead Davey has long been a supporter of St Mary’s Hospice. Not satisfied with climbing mountains at night, she decided to use her on-line workout classes to raise funds for our much loved local charity.
Sinead launched her innovative HIITSTEP classes when the country was emerging from the first national lockdown and in the middle of a heatwave. The multi-award winning HIIT workout is designed to provide you with the greatest results in the shortest amount of time to the greatest music, and Sinead delivered it to as many people as the rules allowed – limiting sessions to 6 people in Barrow park’s bandstand, and going on-line to teach people in their homes, as well as teaching socially distanced sessions in St Matthew’s hall.
Hoping to make the most of new years’ resolutions to get fit and into shape, Sinead pledged to donate £10 of every £15 sign up to her HITTSTEP At Home classes for January to St Mary’s Hospice. Participants benefitted from access to live and recorded classes that are high intensity but that everyone can join in with as there are options to suit all abilities.
Sinead explains “I know that St Mary’s will have lost out on fundraising because of Covid 19. HIITSTEP is a fun way to keep fit an active, and it’s been very popular since I started teaching it earlier this year. I wanted to give something back to the community that has kept me going despite Covid 19 and I hopedthat both my existing members and some new Hiitsteppers would join in with this initiative. I was blown away by the response and thrilled to have donated £2130.00 to St Mary’s”
Area Fundraiser Clare Paling says “We are only too aware of how difficult a year it has been for lots of industries, including health and fitness, so it makes it even more wonderful that Sinead has been willing to make such a generous offer. We are delighted that lots of people have benefitted from her classes so that in turn St Mary’s can benefit from the donations pledged. What a wonderful gift to begin the year”.
