In celebration of Hospice Care Week, Compassionate Communities is thrilled to announce the ‘Active Minds, Healthy Hearts: A Dementia Care Event,’ set to take place on Thursday, 10th October at the Barrow Leisure Centre.
This special event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible services and support available in our community for people living with dementia. St Mary’s Hospice is committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families living with dementia, and this event will highlight the wonderful benefits of sports, movement, and mindfulness.

The ‘Active Minds, Healthy Hearts’ event will feature a variety of activities and demonstrations designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for those living with dementia. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, including gentle exercise classes, mindfulness workshops, and engaging sports activities tailored to all ability levels.

“Our goal is to demonstrate how sports, movement, and mindfulness can significantly improve quality of life and empower those living with dementia and their families.”
The ‘Active Minds, Healthy Hearts: A Dementia Care Event’ is open to all community members, including caregivers, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about dementia care. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.
