Andrew is St Mary’s Chair of Trustees and Principal and Chief Executive of Furness College in Barrow. Originally from Cumbria, Andrew attended Hull University where he studied French and Scandinavian Studies, spending a year in Sweden. Following a career in hospitality and retail management, he moved into teaching in 2002 and worked at two further education colleges in Yorkshire before moving back to Cumbria in 2015.
He enjoys taking an active role in the community and was keen to work with St. Mary’s Hospice to support the excellent work it does in South Cumbria. Furness College already works closely with the Hospice, delivering the training for its nurse apprentices. He lives near Broughton and spends his free time walking with his two lively beagles, Freddie and Ralph, working in his garden and reading.
Andrew aims to help the Hospice to develop its staff to fulfil their potential and to continue the excellent work they all do.
