We are excited to present Dementia Unmuted, a dynamic festival celebrating and supporting people living with dementia and their carers. Organised in collaboration with the Furness Dementia Partnership, this festival will offer a range of inspiring and engaging events across multiple venues. It aims to bring the community together, raise awareness, and foster creativity, connection, and support for those affected by dementia.
As part of the festival, we are proud to showcase a Powerful Play, commissioned by a leading NHS Trust, that sheds light on the importance of holistic care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This compelling theatrical performance encourages healthcare professionals to look beyond the clinical diagnosis and focus on the rich life stories of those in their care.
The play also explores the challenges faced by dementia patients during hospital visits, questioning whether all outpatient appointments are truly necessary given the confusion and stress they can cause. It’s a thought-provoking and moving performance that will resonate with carers, healthcare workers, and anyone affected by dementia.
