The annual Walk to Remember, hosted by St Mary’s Hospice, will return on Friday, September 8th this year, promising to be even more special than before. This beloved event provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to unite, honoring and cherishing the memory of loved ones.
Mel Dixon, St Mary’s Events and Challenges Manager, expressed, “In 2023, we invite our community to reflect on those important in our lives and who they will be walking in remembrance of. Each step taken by our supporters raises vital funds for the hospice, enabling us to provide support to you and your loved ones whenever and wherever you need it, both now and in the future.”
The event is generously sponsored by Ørsted, a leading offshore wind farm developer. Mel adds: “We extend our gratitude to Ørsted for making this event possible, as well as the dedicated efforts of our staff, volunteers, and local businesses in ensuring its success. This event is an excellent opportunity for our community to gather together with family, friends, colleagues, and even pets, creating new memories while celebrating the lives of those we hold dear in our hearts.”
On the day of the event, registration will begin at 6 PM at the Better Leisure Centre in Ulverston, with the official walk commencing at 8 PM. The route spans ten miles, passing through Swarthmoor, Lindal, Dalton, and finished with a warm welcome at Furness Academy.
Since 1988, St Mary’s Hospice has been providing care and support to patients and their loved ones.
