Barrow Asbestos-related Disease Support
What is it?
A service for patients with asbestos-related diseases, their families and carers. It is provided by St Mary's Hospice in collaboration with the benefits Agency, Social Services, local unions, the Citizens Advice Bureau and expert lawyers.
Who is eligible?
- Patients with asbestos-related diseases
- Family members caring for patients with asbestos-related diseases
- Carers of patients with asbestos-related diseases
- Bereaved relatives
- Health and Social Care professionals involved with asbestos-related disease
When and where?
One day a month in Lesser Kings Hall, Hartington Street, Barrow in Furness (next to Furness Gymnastics) - between 2pm and 4pm on the following dates:
- Monday 19 October
- Monday 16 November
- Monday 21 December
What is provided?
- Information and advice about asbestos-related disease
- Medical, nursing and complementary therapy staff with particular skill and experience in asbestos-related disease and palliative care
- Financial and benefits advice
- Legal advice from lawyers with expertise in asbestos-related claims
- Support services for family carers
- Information and advice for Health and Social Care professionals
- Bereavement Support
